SEED: The Untold Story:at our store, we stock over 2000 models, so if you see the manufacturer, but not the model, don't be shy - give us a call and we will be happy to check! This video is a very important and interesting collection of facts, opinions, interviews, and footage of some of the world's leaders in food diversity and seed-saving programs. It is one-sided at times and champions the lone farmer instead of large corporations like Monsanto and Dow Chemical. (My Ph.D. is in plant science and I have not seen any convincing evidence that GMOs are hurting our bodies. My formal education has put GMOs and hybrid plants in a very favorable light, while this movie paints GMOs and hybrid plants as scourges of independent farming.) While it is unfair to say GMOs and hybrid crops are terrible things for everyone, the TOPICS featured here encourage discussions that we all need to have. Where is our plant-based food coming from? Who is saving our seeds? Why have we lost so much diversity in our crops? Best quote is from radical subsistence farmer Will Bonsall who insists that saving your own seeds is just as important as making love to your spouse! Someone else may be better at it, but some things you just need to do yourself. HAHAHA! (I bought Will's book on self-reliant gardening after I saw him on here.)This is a GREAT movie! It is a must-see for anyone interested in agriculture, gardening, or eating.2021,virginia beach mall, max 42% offSEED: The Untold Story

Product Description

Blu-ray edition. Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds, worshiped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. Seed: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource, and revive a culture connected to seeds. Seed features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona LaDuke and Raj Patel. Seed: The Untold Story is Executive Produced by Marisa Tomei, Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine), and Phil Fairclough (Grizzly Man, Cave of Forgotten Dreams).

All Abuzz About Bugs!

We are an online community of naturalists who enjoy learning about and sharing our observations of insects, spiders, and other related creatures.

We enjoy the opportunity to instill in others the fascination and appreciation that we share for the intricate lives of these oft-maligned creatures.

Our Mission

Using the best resources we have access to, we are creating a knowledgebase to help each other and the online community.

Our Method

We collect photographs of bugs from the United States and Canada for identification and research.

We summarize our findings in guide pages for each order, family, genus, and species.

Making New Discoveries

More than just a clearinghouse for information, this site helps expand on the natural histories of our subjects. By capturing the place and time that submitted images were taken, we are creating a virtual collection that helps define where and when things might be found.

We capture never-before-seen behaviors and we have photos of species that you won't find anywhere else on the web.
