I got these for some future dovetailing on drawer boxes. I haven't used them for any actual work yet, but I have tested them on scrap thoroughly. They were very sharp out of the box, but I decided to flatten them anyway. Took about an hour for both, in about a 70/30 split, as one had a large hollow that took some time to work out. The machining marks in the steel make it easy to identify when you still have a low spot, being straight lines perpendicular to the length of the chisel., And not just a different shade of shinny. The bevel faces don't appear to be as flat as the backs, but I don't have a 45° miter gauge, so it may just be from free-handing.After polishing, I am able to take paper thin cuts from almost any scrap I have laying around. Product description

These chisels are made by a small tool manufacturer in the Czech Republic and are of exceptional quality. The blades are made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blades take and hold an excellent edge. The blades are accurately ground and have a slimmer cross section that woodworkers prefer. As with all edge tool, they'll need sharpening before use. These chisels are an excellent value in a good quality tool. This set of right and left skew chisels are designed to cut cleanly and easily when trimming tenon shoulders and dovetails, when getting into corners and when dressing end grain. Blades are ground to a 30 degree skew angle and have a 25 degree bevel. Blades are 1/4” or 6 mm wide by 4 ¾” long. Handles are stained hornbeam, are 5 1/4” long, 1 1/4” in diameter and have a brass ferrule. Overall length is 10 ”. They come with an edge protector, but no retail packaging.

All Abuzz About Bugs!

We are an online community of naturalists who enjoy learning about and sharing our observations of insects, spiders, and other related creatures.

We enjoy the opportunity to instill in others the fascination and appreciation that we share for the intricate lives of these oft-maligned creatures.

Our Mission

Using the best resources we have access to, we are creating a knowledgebase to help each other and the online community.

Our Method

We collect photographs of bugs from the United States and Canada for identification and research.

We summarize our findings in guide pages for each order, family, genus, and species.

Making New Discoveries

More than just a clearinghouse for information, this site helps expand on the natural histories of our subjects. By capturing the place and time that submitted images were taken, we are creating a virtual collection that helps define where and when things might be found.

We capture never-before-seen behaviors and we have photos of species that you won't find anywhere else on the web.
