My Baby Don't Tolerate

My Baby Don't Tolerate:at our store, we stock over 2000 models, so if you see the manufacturer, but not the model, don't be shy - give us a call and we will be happy to check! I'm not a big fan of country music, it seems like they pander to their audience, if they want to sell a record they have to include a song about family values, trucks, bars or the rodeo. I'm suspicious of any country singer, head tilted down giving the "smoldering stare" from under the brim of a clean cowboy hat. You know Lyle's Stetson is sweat and dust stained. He's so authentic he has honest to god scars from a bull. Plus he's never written a clichéd song in his career. He's an authentic songwriter with a quirky mind and a great voice. I think it says something that he doesn't seem to be embraced by mainstream country (fans anyway). Of course he doesn't always stay in that genre, which is what makes him fun to listen to.This is a good "country" album. It's not necessarily his most original work, there aren't any songs about penguins here. It is a catchy album that's great fun to listen to. I travel a lot and I've been listening to this album constantly for the last month or more.Cute As A Bug is a catchy pop/country song with some clever lines. My Baby Don't Tolerate is a great bluesy song with my favorite line "I puckered up, she puckered down", a good example of Lyle's writing. The Truck Song is a ode to those country songs about trucks I mentioned earlier but not as cloying as most. In My Own Mind paints a vivid picture of good life with simple, elegant lyrics, just like all the songs here. Nothing But A Good Ride is a classic truck driving song without ever being cloying. This album is a pleasure to listen to over and over.sales results no. 1,max 73% off, seattle mallMy Baby Don't Tolerate

Maybe it was that thigh-splitting encounter with a belligerent bull, but whatever put him there, Lyle Lovett is in a nostalgic mood on My Baby Don’t Tolerate, his first studio album of all new and original songs since the country-minded The Road to Ensenada in 1996. This is a mixed blessing--several songs sound like retreads from Lovett’s earlier efforts, even as a listener welcomes the reprised syncopated, hep cat, Louis Jordan-meets-Sister Rosetta Tharpe signatures that help define his quirky style. While a key tune, "In My Own Mind," turns around a family man who seeks solace from a busy household, drawing restorative power from nature ("no rain, just the sunshine"), the album finds itself when Lovett begins revisiting dark places in his mind. Forget "Cute as a Bug," a by-now formulaic song of hottie lust, and get right to the bleak antagonist who narrates the confused loss of the elegantly jazzy "You Were Always There," the snaky blues of the title song, the pointy-toed send-up of bygone Music City hillbillies ("Nashville"), and the sly portrayal of the bribes of luckless blacks ("Election Day") in the old-time South. As the infectious, if repetitious gospel numbers prove, the man with "Eraserhead" hair isn’t breaking any new ground. But he still fuses country, blues, jazz, folk, big band, and pop like no one else on the planet. --Alanna Nash

All Abuzz About Bugs!

We are an online community of naturalists who enjoy learning about and sharing our observations of insects, spiders, and other related creatures.

We enjoy the opportunity to instill in others the fascination and appreciation that we share for the intricate lives of these oft-maligned creatures.

Our Mission

Using the best resources we have access to, we are creating a knowledgebase to help each other and the online community.

Our Method

We collect photographs of bugs from the United States and Canada for identification and research.

We summarize our findings in guide pages for each order, family, genus, and species.

Making New Discoveries

More than just a clearinghouse for information, this site helps expand on the natural histories of our subjects. By capturing the place and time that submitted images were taken, we are creating a virtual collection that helps define where and when things might be found.

We capture never-before-seen behaviors and we have photos of species that you won't find anywhere else on the web.
